Butterfly Pull Ups

Thursday night we practiced the butterfly pull up. This is the new “standard” pull up in CrossFit.

It took me six months to learn the kipping pull up, the old standard. I can do it, but it has never been easy. Now I’m supposed to learn this? At my age? Puleeeeeze!

Overhead press: New PR @ 125lbs!!

Today’s warmup was the overhead press:

5-5-3-3-1-1-1

My weights:

75-85-95-105-110-115-125 (new PR!!!)

125lbs may not seem all that heavy, considering that one of the younger 20-something guys was pressing 250lbs, but it was a new PR, which is the only thing that counts for me!

Crossfit Fran 6 month progress

Before I started crossfit, I weighted 205 pounds, could barely run a 11:00 mile, couldn’t do a pullup or a dip. This is a video of my progress after 6 months doing a workout called Fran – 3 rounds, 21-15-9, of 95 pound thrusters and pullups
