If you can’t flip houses, flip tires!!

Today's workout involved flipping a tire. A big tire. A very big truck tire. A tire that weighs about 400 lbs. And I did it. There was a time about a month or so ago when I couldn't even lift it up a few inches. But, today I flipped it - not once, but 25 times!! Woo hoo!

Now, you may ask yourself, "Why would you ever want to flip a tire?" The answer: It's just another way of physical conditioning. It's a whole-body movement that really involves all the major muscle groups. It's a way better exercise than bicep curls or an elliptical machine.

This is a bigger tire than the one in the video below.

This morning's workout of the day:

5 rounds for time of:
50 double unders
5 tire flips
10 overhead squats

I substituted 100 regular jumps for the double unders.

Over head squats at 75lbs.

-----------------------------------------------------

Totals:
500 rope jumps
25 tire flips
50 overhead squats

Time:
19:10

Not the fastest of the group, but I'm trying not to hurt myself in the process.

Grace

Workout of the Day:
"Grace"

For time:
30 reps clean and jerk

I lifted 110lbs.
Time: 5:40

This is another one of those workouts that look easy. Ha!! For the first 10 reps or so, it wasn't so bad. Then I start feeling it. The weight starts getting heavy. Really heavy. And my breathing starts getting short. Really short. And my arms and my body can barely lift the weight up and over my head. "One rep at a time," I keep telling myself. 20....then 24....then 28. "Two more," I say. At number 30 I can't jerk it over my head. I drop the weight. I try one last time and push the bar more than jerk it. Made it!! I drop the weight unceremoniously to the floor and hits with a satisfying clang.

I am worn out.

And that's the way CrossFit is supposed to be.
