Workout of the Day – September 25, 2008

Am I sore from yesterday’s workout!! All those pullups and situps and squats and pushups!! It’s enough to make me want to go back to step aerobics class!!

This morning’s workout was no easier. There is no name for it. Maybe I’ll call it, “Near Death Experience, 9/25/08.”

Warmup (same as yesterday):
10 Pullups
15 Pushups
20 Air squats

Another near death experience!! “Barbara” is such an innocent name to call such a killer workout. CrossFit is deceptive that way.

Surviving a CrossFit workout takes as much mental discipline as physical discipline. Several times during this workout – not to mention every other one as well – I feel like quitting because I’m so exhausted. [...]

Workout of the Day – September 16, 2008

This morning’s workout was easier said than done, of course.

First, warmups:
21 Turkish getups
50 air squats

WOD:
21-15-9 reps of:
Double kettlebell push jerk (using two 35lb kettlebells)
Box jumps 24″
Pull-ups

My time:
10:21

Sounds easy, doesn’t it? The pullups are always hard for me for some reason. My arms feel like they are about to fall off!!

“Angie” is another CrossFit workout with a female name. don’t let this fool you, though! It looks simple, but it’s not easy.

Warmup:

100 Kettlebell swings (2-handed)
20 Turkish getups
Row 250 meters

For time:
100 pull-ups
100 push-ups
100 sit-ups
100 air squats

Time: 22:17

We did this in 10 sets of 10 reps. There was no way any of us could do 100 of [...]

20 Tactical lunges
Row 250 meters

WOD:

3 rounds for time of:
50 air squats
7 muscle-ups (substitute 21 pullups and 21 ring dips)
10 hang power cleans 115#

Time: 24:21

Muscle ups are routine for male gymnasts. I could even do them in high school. But now–now way!! They are incredibly hard. For me, at least…
