I've written about overhead squats here, here, here, and here. It's proven to be one of the more devilishly difficult lifts I've ever done, primarily because it requires a goodly amount of both strength and flexibility. It's a total body lift that requires focus, concentration, and the active engagement of your body's every major muscle group.
Today's workout was:
Overhead Squat
5 reps of progressively increasing weight. I started at 95lbs and ended at 125lbs (a new personal record - PR - for me!) after only 4 reps. Alas, I couldn't make it to to the 5th rep.
My weight progression:
95-105-115-125
Then after that, I did 3 sets of overhead squats of 12-9-6 reps @ 85lbs, for a total of 27 reps. My entire body is very sore as I write this at 11:10PM.
